Nippon Gases, part of the Nippon Sanso Holdings Corporation, has released its Sustainability Report of the non-financial activity over the course of the Fiscal Year Ending March 31st, 2025.
This Report is a testament of the company’s commitment to transparency and compliance with global Environmental, Sustainability and Governance criteria, sharing the impact of its activities during the past year, as well as its efforts to have sustainability be an integral component of all its actions.
The report has been verified by external auditors and includes the greenhouse emission verification statement (validated by an accredited verifier), allowing a deeper look into the carbon footprint of the company’s products. Transparency through reporting is a cornerstone of sustainability. Nippon Gases' activities and progress towards its objectives have been documented and audited, and will be used in future assessment by sustainability rating agencies such as EcoVadis, who awarded the company with its Platinum Medal in December 2024.
The Report reflects an overall reduction of Green House Gases emissions of up to 44% in relation to baseline year FYE2019, thanks to the sustainable solutions the company applies to its technologies and products for all the different markets and industries where it operates. Other key achievements in sustainability are also highlighted throughout the Report, with a reduction of over 35% of water intensity and 28% of waste intensity.
The company also highlights some of the values that have powered this years’ activities, with Sustainability as a main principle; followed by Safety in its operations, both employees’ and contractors’; People Excellence, with a focus on well-being of employees as well as the development of their talent; Collaboration as a main catalyst of innovation; and Technology Development as key for staying up to date with the markets’ and industries’ constant evolution.
Other significant achievements for the company this year included utilising renewable energy for 39% of manufacturing—the highest contribution to date. Furthermore, the greenhouse gas emissions reductions achieved by customers using Nippon Gases' products and services surpassed 150% of the company’s own emissions. The company is also on track to achieving its goals for female presence, with over 29.7% female ratio and 33% female presence in Managerial positions.
Raoul Giudici, President of Nippon Gases, reflects on the company’s achievements over the past year on sustainability, and outlines his expectations for the upcoming fiscal year: “Last year we joined SBTi, and our GHG emission targets were validated to align with limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, as per the Paris Agreement, therefore we expect to continue our trend to reduce GHG emissions. More importantly, we aim to support our customers in reducing their emissions through our technology and products”.
