Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) gives food a longer shelf life
When food is packaged in modified air (MAP), the air inside the package is replaced with a specific mixture of gases. This method is primarily used to protect and extend the product's shelf life.
The shelf life of perishable products can increase up to 4-5 times using gas compared to products packed in regular air.
Examples of products that are packed in modified atmosphere packaging:
- MEAT - minced meat, cold cuts, bags of meat products such as sausages
- FISH - fresh fish, fish cakes, prawns not in brine
- VEGETABLES - salad bags, ready-made salads
- BAKED GOODS - bread products, half-baked bread, baguettes, rolls
- OTHER - in the bottleneck of products such as juices, cod liver oil and oils, on top of sour cream, cheese, ready-made cheese slices, grated cheese, cheese equivalents, beer, carbonated mineral water, cider and carbonated water, wine
