Nippon Gases collaborates with UPM Racing, the team that participates in the Formula Student belonging to the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) and which has its centre at the University Institute for Automotive Research (INSIA). Formula Student is an engineering competition where students from different specialities design, manufacture and defend a formula car, and compete against the most prestigious universities from all over the world. It is the students themselves who find the resources, drive the vehicle and are responsible for its fine-tuning.
Nippon Gases supplies different technical welding gases belonging to the SanarcĀ® line, these gases are used to weld different elements that are incorporated in the competition prototypes, parts as important as the frame itself, and different key elements, such as the tie rods that make up the suspension system.
On 29 July, the UPM Racing team presented its prototype with a carbon fibre monocoque chassis and electric propulsion, which will be used to compete in mid-August in Hockenheim (Germany) in the Formula Student Electric 2021 category.
