Black liquor oxidation

Increase productivity with pure oxygen.

Black liquor oxidation with pure oxygen increases productivity and reduces air pollution

Black liquors can be treated with pure oxygen to oxidise sodium sulphide up to the stable compound sodium thiosulphate. This way, it reduces emissions of Total Reduced Sulphur (TRS) in the recovery boiler. This application can also reduce the liquor heating value and increase the recovery boiler capacity.

How black liquor oxidation works
Application of pure oxigen converts sulphide sodium.
Thiosulphate sodium and decrease calorific liquor value leading to an increased productivity in the bottleneck production recovery boilers (indirect concentrators).
Oxidation

Oxidation of sulphur coumpound (mercaptans/ H2S).

TRS

TRS (Total Reduced Sulfur compounds) reduction.

Exothermic reaction

A better use of heat generated in the exothermic reaction.

Shorter reaction

Saved steam evaporators. Shorter reaction and less foam generation than with air.

Productivity

Increased productivity 2 to 4%.

S and Na recovering

Increases S and Na recovering in the green liquor.
