Nippon Gases and MADIT sign partnership agreement

16/09/2021
Working together will enhance manufacturing services, improving the production process with high quality gases.

Nippon Gases, one of the world’s leading industrial and medical gases companies, and MADIT, a company specialized in metal 3D printing through SLM additive manufacturing technology, have signed a collaboration agreement.

This collaboration will allow MADIT to strengthen its manufacturing services, improving the production process with high-quality gases, and monitoring consumption and process variables in real-time. For Nippon Gases, it will represent an opportunity to continue advancing in service-oriented developments for additive manufacturing and the company’s specialization in SLM manufacturing processes.

During the *SLM process, the entire machine is under an inert atmosphere generated using argon gas. There are several reasons behind this:

- Preventing the oxidation of the metal melted during the process, ensuring maximum fusion quality and the mechanical properties of the manufactured components.

- Improving the efficiency and quality of the process by extracting projected particles and smoke during the fusion of the powder.

- Eliminating the formation of an explosive atmosphere inside the machines during the manufacturing process.

* Note: SLM technology (Selective Laser Melting)

3D printing process based on the PBF (Powder Bed Fusion) concept. A laser beam selectively fuses thin layers of metallic powder to create a final piece. This technology allows manufacturing small and medium-sized parts of highly complex geometries without tools and minimizing subsequent operations.
