Dry Ice Cooling

Securing cold chain in the pharmaceutical and medical sector

Dry ice for cooling, storage und transport at below -70 °C

Dry ice is the ideal cooling medium for securing the cold chain during the transport and storage of medicines, even at temperatures below -70 °C.

What is Dry Ice?

Dry ice is carbon dioxide in solid form.

During its production, cryogenic liquefied carbon dioxide is expanded through a special nozzle.

This process produces CO2 snow (dry ice snow) and CO2 gas, approximately in a 50:50 ratio. The snow is pressed into shape, e.g. pellets, and the gas is reliquefied in a closed circuit after expansion.

Nippon Gases produces dry ice in various forms and qualities, depending on customer requirements.

Dry Ice Slices
Dry ice slices are available in weight ranges between 0.5 and 3 kg.
Dry Ice pellets
Pellets are available in diameters of 12 and 3 mm cryopellets with up to 3 mm, the latter being mainly used for dry ice cleaning.
