Cheap but difficult to use
Under normal circumstances (temperature and pressure), this gas is inert, and when subject to high temperatures, it can become active influencing the result. It is usually used in the PBF 3D printing process, exclusively for stainless steel products. It is also used for the inerting of metal powders in the storage phase.

Argon for Additive manufacturing
Thanks to its chemical-physical characteristics, it is the most used gas for all additive manufacturing processes, mostly for those materials that are particularly reactive with oxygen or other air components.

Helium for Additive manufacturing
The chemical and physical characteristics of helium make it ideal for PBF and DED 3D printing processes, it is often used mixed with other gases. Also, helium is mainly used in EBM processes which due to the low gas consumption.
