Press release
Duesseldorf/Huerth, December 2022
In the course of the upcoming work, there will be unusual noise developments that occur due to the normal start-up and shut-down operation.
For industrial gases specialist Nippon Gases Deutschland, the safety of people and the environment is paramount in all its activities. That is why the company regularly invests in the operational safety and reliability of its plants. In the period from December 5 to probably December 12, control and maintenance work will be carried out on the air separation plant. This plant has been operating reliably at the Hürth site for decades, separating air into its constituent parts.

In the course of the upcoming work, there will be unusual noise developments that occur due to the normal start-up and shut-down operation of the air separation plant. They are by no means the result of technical malfunctions and are therefore no cause for concern. Despite additional technical measures implemented at the plant, it will not be possible to completely avoid these noises.  The company asks local residents for their understanding.

What does an air separation unit do?
In an air separation plant, ambient air is separated into its main components oxygen, nitrogen and argon using a proven technical cryogenic process. The individual gases are separated, purified and fed to their intended uses. Oxygen is used, among other things, in medicine to ventilate people. Nitrogen is used, for example, in the food industry for protective gas packaging of cheese, sausage and meat products, and the chemical industry needs nitrogen in large quantities as a safety medium in numerous production processes.
