Nitrogen is used in the storage and handling of a considerable number of chemical, oil, food and other products in inerting processes

The use of nitrogen is suitable where thepresence of atmospheres containingoxygen could pose a risk or deteriorate the stored products. Inerting the tanks reduces the risks fromflammable or volatile products, minimising emissions into the atmosphere, and keeping the quality characteristics of the stored products.

The pressure in tanks varies with temperature to a greater or lesser extent depending on the vapour pressure of the liquid stored. This same pressure variation occurs in tank filling and emptying processes.

In both cases, the Nippon Gases inerting system introduces nitrogen during tank depressions and releases gas on the event of tank over pressure, controlling the pressure and keeping it under the protection of an inert atmosphere.

The inerting systems developed by Nippon Gases support pressures in the tank that can vary from mm of water column up to several kg/cm2. As a safety precaution, to prevent possible collapses due to overpressure or vacuum caused by very quick pressure changes in the tank, Nippon Gases installs parallel relief valves, rupture discs and vacuum break valves.

Nippon Gases provides all these measures so that inerting tanks containing nitrogen offers you the greatest benefits
