Nippon Gases, the European business of Nippon Sanso Holdings Corporation, your strategic partner for industrial and medical gases, has published its Sustainability Report for the fiscal year ending March 2022. The report, verified by Ernst & Young, outlines the impact that our company and solutions have on the environment and the communities where we operate, following the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals as the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. The report has been put together in accordance with the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
Still feeling the effects of the global pandemic and entering an uncertain socioeconomic climate, our company exceeded most of our environmental, social and governance targets covering the three areas related to our philosophy ‘Proactive, Innovative & Collaborative’, pillars of the strategy and the purpose behind our sustainability agenda: Making life better through gas technology.
In line with the initiatives from the previous fiscal year, we have launched our new Sustainability Mid-Term Plan FYE2022-2026, in which, through our participation in third-party agencies such as Ecovadis, Responsible Care and the UN Global Compact, our sustainability initiatives are evaluated by independent organisations. “2022 has been a period in which our company has proven its worth, bouncing back strongly from the previous year” said Eduardo Gil, President of Nippon Gases.
“Meeting the needs of the present without compromising the future is our main focus. In our sustainability report, you will find our goals and milestones to prevent global warming, improve air and water quality, reduce waste and, in short, minimise the environmental footprint not only of our company, but also of our customers and suppliers.”
The report published today shares the continued commitment and progress in our sustainability focus areas, including resource optimisation, energy efficiency, water usage, waste management, greenhouse gas emissions reductions (validated and verified by an accredited consultant) and sustainable technology solutions for customers. Its content is aligned with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive’s requirements.
In the Sustainability report we reemphasize our commitment to safety – priority number one in our company – compliance and ethical behaviour, diversity, talent management and community engagement. These non-financial goals and measures are core elements of Nippon Gases’ integrated sustainability strategy.
Finally, given the economic difficulties faced in Europe, exacerbated by the war in Ukraine, we continue to cooperate with governmental and non-governmental humanitarian initiatives to aid in alleviating the suffering of millions of people. Because at Nippon Gases “we envision a more sustainable future for all, in every sense.”
