Nippon Gases, representing Nippon Sanso Holdings Corporation (NSHD) in Europe, announces the publication of its Sustainability Report for the fiscal year ending March 2024. This report outlines the impact that our company has had on the environment and the communities in which we operate, in compliance with the United Nations’ ‘Sustainable Development Goals’, guiding companies worldwide towards a sustainable future. The report, includes the greenhouse emission verification statement (validated by an accredited consultant), allowing us a deeper look into the carbon footprint of our products.
The global drive for decarbonisation, hydrogen's increasing prevalence, and the rise of artificial intelligence, are reshaping industries worldwide. However, Europe must navigate challenges such as, geopolitical tensions, improvement of the top-down climate change policies, and economic uncertainties.
Verified by Ernst and Young, the report underscores our ongoing commitment to sustainability. It outlines our progress in different focus areas, including resource optimisation, energy efficiency, water usage, waste management, greenhouse gas footprint (verified by SGS) and sustainable technology solutions for customers. This content adheres to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive’s requirements that represent our track to carbon neutrality.
Specific product carbon footprints for all countries will be available in the following weeks for our main products. These pieces of data will also be validated by SGS, which allows our clients to perform a high-accuracy Scope 3 emission calculation.
“Sustainability is increasingly demanded by our stakeholders, and through benchmarking and continuous improvement guided by our Sustainability Reports, we aim to meet these expectations and drive progress toward a carbon-neutral future by 2050.” said Joaquín González-Blas Sánchez, Energy & Sustainability Director of Nippon Gases.
Safety remains paramount for us, as reemphasised in this report, alongside a deeper look into the Nippon Gases Integrated Sustainability Strategy. At its core, this strategy emphasises the collective strength of our people and excellence as fundamental to our success: we are greater together. These non-financial goals and measures enhance our performance, consisting of compliance and ethical behaviour, diversity, talent management and community engagement.
“Central to our strategy is a commitment to innovation and people excellence. By attracting and retaining top-tier talent and customers, embracing servitisation, harnessing AI for innovation, and maintaining competitiveness in a dynamic market, we are poised for growth.” - Raoul Giudici, President of Nippon Gases.
Finally, in addressing Europe's challenges, we collaborate with governmental and non-governmental organizations, aiming to contribute positively to society as a whole. We firmly believe in creating social value through innovative gas solutions to ensure that we can enable the future, together.
